Exhibition: Io la musica son - musical instruments in the churches of Cremona 23/09/2022 at 10:00 in Area eventi Padiglione 2
The exhibition aims to make ancient instruments dialogue with each other, to demonstrate to the 'visitor' how those painted in the churches were an almost perfect copy of those that were actually used in 'musical practice' from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century.
On one hand there will therefore be the real instruments of the precious Maggi collection; on the other, the enlarged images published in the volume 'Io la Musica Son'. The musical object and its image interpreted by the artist will thus be in a continuous aesthetic but also practical 'dialogue'. You will be able to notice, closely and really, the differences and the equalities. A particularly interesting exercise for all those who deal with lutherie, the construction of ancient instruments, musical iconography, problems related to the performance practice of ancient and baroque music. They will be exhibited as follows: a rebec, a vielle, a lute, a bass viola. Next to the respective images. It will also be an interesting journey into the world of Cremonese art between the 17th and 18th centuries.
